The car that beat BMW at its own game. The Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II was Stuttgart's DTM homologation weapon — 235 horsepower from a Cosworth-developed 2.5-litre four-cylinder, the most aggressive rear wing ever fitted to a Mercedes sedan, and flared arches that transformed the conservative W201 into a touring car for the road. Only 502 were built. The Evo II is the moment Mercedes embraced motorsport at the road-car level.
